Echo Enduring Logo

As a designer, I obviously was the creative force behind my own logo. The name Echo Enduring had been running through my mind for years. It actually first germinated as the name of the band that I wished I had in high school. From there, it became the handle/username that I used on pretty much any website that I have signed up for in the past ten years. So, if you see the name Echoenduring out there, it's probably me!

Anyhow, when it came time to launch this site, it just seemed to be the perfect name (and the domain was available - always a plus).

Over the years, I had played with a few designs, mostly focusing on the concept of the double E. So, when it came to designing this logo, that remained pretty prominent in my mind. In fact, it worked itself into pretty much all of my concepts, to one degree or another. Here are three of the concepts that I created, but didn't choose.

I chose the final logo over these concepts for a couple of reasons. First, and most practically, in a survey of friends and associates, it proved to be the most popular. It also felt right. None of the other concepts really captured me the way this one did. Finally, I have a thing for the hexagon in design, and was excited about the prospect of working that shape into other Echo Enduring Media designs.

As for the typeface, I knew I wanted something something clean and modern. I also wanted to set off the e's from the rest of the type, to tie back into the logo itself. So, inspired by the Birth of a Hero font, I decided to try rotating the e's. I played with numerous fonts, and AvantGarde worked so nicely because its perfectly round glyphs rotate without disrupting the type's baseline. However, I didn't like the short ascenders and descenders, so I lengthened them manually to complete the customized type face.

That's really it in a nut shell. I hope you like the logo. I certainly put a lot of work into it!

Client & Vision

Echo Enduring Media

I needed a logo, and obviously I was going to design it myself. I wanted something incredibly simple, but with an interesting type treatment.
